A BIT ABOUT US

Mariam Nguyen traveled to Kenya and was volunteering at a pop-up clinic in the Kibera area when she noticed that a lot of the patients there had similar issues. She found out that there was only one emergency vehicle for the 500,000 people living in Kibera, and that their average life expectancy is only 30 years old. She decided to meet with local high schools to develop a health curriculum to teach to the students, hoping to catalyze change for the future generations through education. She decided to create a program where doctors could talk to students in Kibera through Zoom and teach them basic medical skills, while also educating them about different paths in the medical field. She partnered with UCESCO Africa to set up the zoom meetings each week and connect her to local high schools.
